Natural Gas has spent much of 2026 trapped in a
well-defined trading range, frustrating trend traders while creating
opportunities for range-bound strategies. After another rejection from the
upper end of the range, prices have once again rotated lower and are now
testing a key area that has repeatedly attracted buyers throughout the year.
With Natural Gas trading near $2.67, the market is
approaching a crucial decision point that could determine the next major move.
Buyers Face Another Test at Demand
The 2.45-2.65 demand zone remains one of the most
important technical areas on the chart.
Since April, multiple declines into this region have
triggered strong buying responses, helping establish the lower boundary of the
broader range. Previous rebounds from the zone highlight its significance as a
battleground where value buyers have consistently stepped in.
Price is now hovering just above this support area, placing
the spotlight firmly on whether buyers can defend it once again.
Moving Averages
Even if buyers stage a recovery, several technical hurdles
remain overhead.
The 50-period EMA at $2.923 and the 100-period SMA
at $2.929 have converged to form a notable resistance cluster. This creates
a key obstacle between $2.90 and $2.95, where both short-term and
medium-term trend indicators align.
As long as price remains below these averages, rallies may
continue to face selling pressure.
Supply Zone
The broader range remains capped by the major 3.35 supply zone.
This region has repeatedly rejected advances during June,
July, and October, demonstrating strong seller participation whenever prices
approach the upper boundary. Until Natural Gas can break and hold above this
area, the larger market structure remains firmly range-bound.
For now, every rally must prove it can overcome multiple
layers of resistance before a bullish breakout can be confirmed.
RSI
The Relative Strength Index has fallen to around 35,
marking its weakest reading in several weeks.
While momentum remains below the neutral 50 level, the
indicator is now approaching oversold territory. Similar RSI readings earlier
this year coincided with rebounds from support, suggesting sellers may be
losing momentum as price approaches a historically important demand zone.
This does not guarantee a reversal, but it does increase the
likelihood that traders begin watching for signs of stabilization.
